About
The Clear Glass is a small independent editorial project about drinks without alcohol, edited by Ingrid Solheim. We cover established drinking traditions alongside contemporary mixtures, giving a pot of tea the same attention as a carefully built cold drink.
We exist because these drinks deserve a vocabulary beyond absence and substitution. A salted yoghurt drink belongs to its own food culture; a fruit cordial has its own logic. We are interested in what makes each worth drinking, and in the choices that allow it to feel at home at the table.
We publish essays that connect flavour with preparation and service. Historical context stays broad where a precise claim would be uncertain, and practical suggestions are presented as choices rather than universal rules. We distinguish a traditional drink from our own proposed variations, and use links to connect related subjects and explain unfamiliar terms.
