Final Fantasy Versus XIII Clothing is a bit of old news but worthy of new discussion, because, well why not? Square isn’t releasing any new info on Versus for awhile so why don’t we recap some of what they have revealed?
Do you remember when Square suddenly had a news snippet about the character outfits being changed in Final Fantasy Versus XIII? The new designs were being handled by Japanese label ROEN. Square decided to collaborate with ROEN to design a more realistic style of clothing worn by the characters in the game. It was also announced that you would be able to purchase some of the designs for yourself. On ROEN’s official website they used to have listed a leather jacket worn by Noctis which costed a hefty 346,500 yen ($3,223 USD)! Would there even be a market for Cosplay at this level??
These concepts date all the way back to their autumn/winter 2008-09 collection, and was known as “Play Boy” — “The theme of this imaginative story is set with men, who have shed-off their hippy image and are invited to a high society party … ROEN is reborn to a mature, gorgeous and classy style.”
It is also worth noting that the trailer of Versus XIII shown that day specifically noted “PlayStation 3 only Worldwide” at the end. Is this even a safe assumption or statement anymore? Don’t forget, Final Fantasy XIII had similar verbiage in its trailers as well…
